Hi. I recently cut my own bangs. But I cut too much of my hair. And now my bangs look choppy and too short. What should I do? -Zoe
Oh Zoe, firstly, know that you are not alone. Almost every bang-wearer does a botch job at least once. Once, I even did it to myself (vodka and scissors are a dangerous mix).
The first thing you need to do is see your, (sober) hairstylist. Most salons charge little to nothing for bang trims. Your stylist won’t be able to make your bangs grow, but they will probably be able to fix your bangs somewhat. They might be short, but at least they’ll be even.
Extra short bangs can be very cute when worn properly. If the thought of going near scissors terrifies you, you have two options. Invest in hairbands, or clip-in bangs. A wide hairband can cover a multitude of hair sins, and they’re cheap enough that you can buy them in several styles.
Clip-in bangs can be an investment, but when worn correctly, they look amazing. Jessica Simpson’s hair line has some very convincing bang pieces. Just make sure you take them to a hairstylist who is experienced working with wigs and wiglettes. They need to be custom cut to blend in with your real hair. An obviously fake bang piece is a sad thing indeed.
