How do I blow dry short wavy hair? I don’t want to make it straight but make use of my natural waves. Something like this picture would be great!
Thanks for all the advice, Isabelle! – Sharn
Hi Sharn,
What you are describing is actually one of my favorite blow dries. Why? It is incredibly creative, and it takes five minutes tops.
The first thing you need to figure out is which product you need. The way to determine this is to take an honest look at your naked hair, and then take a close look at photos of the hairstyle you want. If your waves tend to go limp, I would get a mousse or curl cream. Bumble and bumble have several. If your waves are off the charts and you’d like them to be a bit looser, try a styling cream. Bumble and bumble Styling Creme is my favourite (they even use it on Mad Men). Decide your goals, and get whatever you think will help steer your hair in the direction you want.
After you’ve thoroughly towel dried, and applied your product, it’s time to sculpt. Using your fingers scrunch, smooth, wrap curls around your fingers, do whatever you think looks good. It’s totally up to you! Next put your blow dryer on the highest heat setting, and the lowest air setting. You want the hair to dry, but not to have it’s shape blown apart. If your blow dryer has a director nozzle, remove it. Feel free to scrunch as you go, just don’t go crazy with it.
That’s it! Easy, fun, and cute in 5 minutes. If you want it to look particularly tousled, try a pomade or wax. got2b Defiant Define & Shine Pomade is super cheap, and it stays flexible, so you can change your look throughout the day. Have fun creating!
